ENGAGEMENTS

Wiarton Engagement Photographer

Engagement photos at golden hour in Wiarton with a red headed bride to be. Journalistic engagement photos in the forest with sunset.

How did you feel about the engagement session after it was all over?We were pumped to see the photos! We had such a great time taking them and were really comfortable with Frances , which is saying a lot cause both of us are camera shy. 1000% would do it again!

  • How did you meet?Matt and I have known each other since we were kids as we met at Sauble Church. We had known each other sort of but never talked much, more so just hi and bye's. It wasn't till the tail end of covid where we started talking to each other.
  • What do you remember most about your first date? Our first date was the best! I'm not a huge fan of movies or dinner on the first date so Matt took us to macgregor point provincial park to feed the birds. It was spring time so it was nice and quiet , not a lot of traffic. Of course we turned it into a competition as to who could feed the most birds, and of course Amelia won. After that, we went for a really long walk and talked about everything under the sun. It was just a sweet, quiet memorable moment that we both loved.

  • When did you know he was the one?Like a week in haha! There was a point where I was down in Windsor for College and Matt was in Bruce County (at this point we were not dating). He had decided to travel down to Windsor for a weekend visit to come see me, which was the first thing that stuck out to me. Over the course of the weekend, he was so kind and thoughtful. I'm meaning opening doors, made sure I was looked after and was a gentlemen to my female roommate. After that weekend I had it in my mind that if and when I was to marry someone, I wanted it to be someone like Matt.
  • How did you feel the moment he proposed? Were you surprised by his planning?I felt like I was going to pass out. it caught me completely off guard which is hard to do. He proposed at Skinner Bluffs which if you know is a very high up steep rocky cliff side. It is one of my favourite places to go for hikes with Matt. Matt and I had plans ahead of time with a friend of his and his family, as we were supposed to have dinner. Mat told me plans had changed and that his buddy's family wanted to go for a hike and that they would meet us at the second look out. I was a little worried as I had not brought my running shoes, but Matt assured me that it was find. We were walking to the first lookout when I sw something set up. I don't know why I didn't clue in but I remember seeing this set up of wild flowers, a hand made heart made from sticks and twigs and stones that read out "will you marry me". At this point I was terrified that we had stumbled onto someones engagement set up so I quickly turned around to tell Matt that we needed to get out of there. You can guess the next part, yup Matt was down on one knee with a ring. I was in so much shock, I asked him what he was doing down there? He then asked me to marry him and of course I said yes. I was crying at this point and Matt was putting the ring on my finger, when out of the bushes someone in a ghillie suit came out of the bushes with a camera. It was my brother who had hid in the bushes for over an hour to be able to get photos of the engagement. It was a whole sting operation, and I loved it all.

  • What do you like to do as a couple? We love to do escape rooms. We both agree that it's a fun way of challenging ourselves to work together in a time crunch. Would also like to add that we have HAPPILY completed every escape room we've done! We both love the outdoors and love to go hiking, swimming, and out for coffee. One things that was really fun as well was winter camping. We went out into the bush with two backpacks and "roughed" it for the day. Was super fun and would highly recommend it!
  • If you could use 3 word to describe the theme of your day what would they be?1. Whimsical 2. woodland/ fern gully 3. "us"
  • What is it about my photos that speaks to you?I love the style of Frances' photos. It's a perfect blend of journalistic and posed photography that gives us a bunch of different was to use. Want something for your wall? sure thing, here's a posed photo. Want something that catches the little looks you give each other? she's got that too!
  • What is the one thing that attracted you most about your partner? He gentleness with me. He's so mindful and compassionate with my feelings and thoughts. Even when I'm having a complete melt down of I can't think right now and am feeling overwhelmed, he is always the first one to help me regulate myself and help me communicate myself. He pushes me in the best way possible. To be a better person and to keep striving for the good things in life . He's just the best thing that's ever happened to me.
  • Tell me 3 things about your partner that describe them best?1. Quiet strong character. He is gentle in nature but is more than able to put his foot down when needed. 2. He's funny. When Matt gets comfortable, he's the craziest cooke I know. Dad jokes, punny lines, funny faces, you name it he's done it. 3. A man of God. One of the big things that I love about Matt is his faith. He's an amazing leader and has pushed me to further my faith too. I love being able to talk together about bible studies and learning more about God and not feel worried about being judged. He makes me feel seen and heard.
  • Tips or advice that you would give to future couples when planning a wedding?Just roll with it. As cheesy as it is to say, don't put too much pressure on creating the 'perfect day'. The more you prioritize just marrying the person you love, the more you'll have fun with it. Grooms; make sure to check in with your bride-to-be. She's got a lot on her plate with planning a wedding. Same goes for the Mothers of the Bride and the Groom. Let them know how thankful you are for all the help they've poured into the planning.
