Sarah's brother, Christopher, introduced her to Matt over Christmas 2017, where they hit it off instantly. But, with their lives in different places it would be another couple years before their relationship had a real shot.
It was the summer of 2020, early stages of Covid where outdoor activities like golf and backyard barbq's were the ways families and friends were connecting. Sarah and Matt found themselves "running into" each other a lot, that way, that summer, with Sarah's Dad, Paul (Matt's boss at the time), never missing an opportunity to point out to Sarah just how perfect she and Matt would be as a couple.
They eventually took to becoming facebook friends and made plans to meet on their own downtown, where they both now lived - game changer ;) It started with a walk and a Starbucks along the pier, and turned into many, many, many more pandemic dates, including biking, outdoor movie nights and their favourite - virtual cooking experiences.
Sarah and Matt both got Covid in December 2021, when people were still isolating for 10 days, and they opted to do this together since this would also mean they were forced to spend Christmas away from their families. It put their relationship to the ultimate test as up until that point they hadn’t spent more than a day, or two, together consecutively. It was a success and they were off on their first holiday together in St. Lucia, less than a month later - F Covid!!
Sarah and Matt's relationship's went into overdrive in 2022. They travelled to Tremblant and Boston, and brought their puppy Hank home to meet his sister Koko in May. The decision to move in together came shortly after that and they had packed up and moved into their dream house in the Beaches that September.
They spent the next year exploring their new neighbourhood during the week and hiking, skiing and golfing in Collingwood on the weekends. They stepped up their travel game and went to Argentina, Italy and finally Switzerland, where Matt capped off an incredible year with a proposal on New Years Eve.
